Celeb Style: Short & Piecey
A lot of celebs like Eva Longoria, Reese Witherspoon and Hayden Panetierre have opted to go shorter lately and shed some length. All these ladies have gone for the bob, but others have gone for edgier, piecey styles. We think these styles are a great alternative to the bob. Here’s a look a just a few of our favorites from the past and present.
We think Cate Blanchett had a real hit with this razor cut, layered chin-length shag.
Hair Tip - Using the end of a comb handle, criss-cross through the hair to make a jagged part, which works well with the shaggy look. Rub a light styling wax between your fingertips and run them through your hair to enhance the textured piecey effect.

Remember this cute, razor cut crop with thick bangs that Keira Knightley had a few years ago? We think it’s one of her best looks yet.
Style this easy cut by blow-drying the hair forward and accentuating the pieciness with styling wax.
Hair Tip: This style looks best with highlights, because like Keira’s, this cut beautifully shows off highlights in the layers.

We think Jane Fonda’s current hairstyle, a piecey shag, with all the ends flipped up is youthful and modern.
Hair Tip: This style works best if you have a slight amount of natural curl in your hair.

Sharon’s Stone’s short and spiky cut has become a signature look for her over the past few years.
Hair Tip: Shampoo, condition and apply mousse while hair is still wet. Then let air-dry. When dry, add a shine wax to the ends. Get the messy look by grabbing hair at the crown and pulling up.

Our post wouldn’t be complete without Lisa Rinna’s modified, razored shag haircut.
Hair Tip: You want to use a diffuser and your fingers to hold the hair out from the scalp and provide extra “lift” then use a low-speed fan setting to blow the ends of the hair in the direction they grow. This will help keep the hair smooth and shiny. Be sure to use an appropriate styling product.

Who could forget this short, piecey crop Sienna Miller wore a few years back? What a cute look!
Hair Tip: Shake your hand through your hair while you blow-dry to achieve the unkempt look. Rub a small drop of shine serum onto dry hair and then a little bit of styling wax to finish the piecey look in the bangs.

Invest in a good set of hot rollers ladies. We're going to be seeing lots of retro/glam styles like those worn by Christina Aguilera, Katherine Heigl, Dita Von Teese and Liv Tyler in the next few months.
Hair colors, like perms, are chemically based. If you’re pregnant, be sure to check with your doctor before coloring your hair.
